Framework Longevity and Continuity

Here is my question:
Which is the most prudent approach to PHP development? - Pure PHP? or by means of a framework like Laravel or Yii or etc...?

If you answer, why is your answer what it is?

I've been a raw PHP developer for a very long time, never had a chance to learn how to use any of the popular frameworks, just been too busy and rushed to get the next thing done.

I am trying to get information from people who actually know what they're doing, which is why I put this question here.
